Hurricane Technology
The science behind our impact-resistant products
Laminated Glass Explained
Our impact glass uses multiple layers of glass bonded with a polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayer. When impacted, the glass cracks but the interlayer holds it together — no shattering, no penetration. This same technology is used in automobile windshields.
Impact Resistance Testing
All our products undergo rigorous Miami-Dade County NOA (Notice of Acceptance) testing. This includes large missile impact (2x4 lumber at 50 mph) and cyclic pressure tests simulating sustained hurricane forces.
Impact vs. Regular Windows
Regular Windows
Shatters on impact; no storm protection; higher energy costs
Impact Windows
Stays intact; full hurricane protection; significant energy savings
